Founded in 1757, Kilbeggan in Co Westmeath is the oldest licensed distillery of its kind in Ireland and still features a pot still that’s over 180 years old. This is Kilbeggan’s flagship offering, a blend of grain and malt whiskeys aged in ex-bourbon casks for a minimum of four years. It’s double distilled, for a more robust profile and complex taste, and the result is a smooth, sweet whiskey with a malt finish. It’s ideal for using in cocktails but the complexity of flavour also means it’s great on its own too.
